Canine Influenza Vaccine
Canine influenza is a newly emerging infectious disease cause by a “flu” virus in dogs, a highly contagious strain of influenza A virus known as H3N8 is able to cause respiratory illness. Other strains of the influenza A virus are responsible for causing infections in birds. horses, pigs, and people.
Canine Influenza is only contagious to dogs!
Canine influenza spreads the same way that the human flu does, through direct contact (kissing, licking, nuzzling); through the air (coughing or sneezing); and via contaminated surfaces (such as when a human picks up the virus on their hands or clothing, then touches another dog). Also if that person touches a surface that another dog may come into contact with like a doorknob.
Good news is all this can be prevented with a vaccination today, call now to schedule 816-364-1089!
